AN AMAZINGLY TEXTURAL BEDJA LEATHER SHIELD FROM SUDAN ( No 403 )

This is an incredibly textural leahter shield from the Bedja people of Sudan. At least 19thC. Has a generously proportioned shape with a protruding nipple at the centre. With classic design allowing for the shooting of a bow at each side. Has a metal indigenous repair that is lifting at the back. The patina is obviously old and has amazing texture. Has wearcommensurate with tribal use. in good condition. We guarantee that this item has been tribally used. w approx 60cm
