A used hornbill headdress from the Bozo people of Mali. Would have been worn on the head and animated from the dancer beneath.. Has a striking polychrom patina. Would have been paraded in the streets during the annual marionette and mask festival in Segou, Mali. Audiences would be encrouaged to join in with the animation of masks, as well as enjoying the loud music and convivial atmosphere. In good condition. Some african wax fabric attached as it is used. Would benefit from a base. In good condition. We guarantee that this item has been tribally used. Length approx 45cm
