This is a wonderfully sculptural leather shield from the Dinka people of Sudan. Has a simple oval form with an undulating, rouched texture, formed by the stick handle penetrating slits in the leather. Classic Dinka oval shape with a rounded protruding nipple at the centre. The patina has a soft sheen and is well developed, with some surface wear. In good condition. We guarantee that this item has been tribally used. Height approx 110cms
